This first weekend of November 2018 marks Dad's Weekend at the University of Illinois. There is so much to do around town - check out our guide for the run-down!
On Friday night, cheer on the Fighting Illini hockey and basketball teams! The basketball game starts at 7:00pm and the hockey game starts at 7:30pm. Purchase your tickets here: http://tickets.fightingillini.com/
On Saturday, the big draw is the football game at Memorial Stadium, where our Fighting Illini will take on Minnesota. There will be tailgating festivities in Orange Grove. As a Dad's Weekend bonus, Block I is overseeing a Chili Cookoff just outside the stadium! Visit the event page for more info: https://www.facebook.com/events/554103391706989/ Alternatively, you and Dad can root on the Illini from a local game day favorite bar like KAMs or Red Lion.
Two of our favorite food holidays fall during the month of March: National Peanut Butter Lovers’ Day and Pi Day! Hey - we’ll take any excuse to celebrate a day that involves food! Check out a list of both peanut butter and pie recipes we put together so you can celebrate too. And be sure to keep an eye on our social media for any upcoming events at Gates at Valdosta!
Krewes (no we aren’t headed to Rio on a Cruise) – These private social clubs have been in place since the mid-1800’s. You can dedicate your party to one of these krewes like Rex who introduced the official colors of purple, green and gold. Or make one of your own!
